Welcome to the United Pentecostal Church International Department of Military Chaplaincy home page. This site familiarizes you with the exciting ministry opportunities available within our nation’s military chaplaincies and how you can fulfill God’s call to serve our nation’s heroes and their families as an apostolic military chaplain.
Apostolic Military Chaplaincy Ministry is an invitation to pastor a group of people both inside and outside church walls. Like Jesus’ ministry in the temple, houses, streets and hillsides, we minister to people in places and moments where they need His hope, truth, and liberating power.
We are God’s vessel pointing people to the freedom we’ve found in Jesus through His Word and Spirit. Our ministry platforms are camo, sweat, earth, tarmac, and steel. Our constituency is the 2.91 million service members, civilians, and their families dispersed across 4,800 sites in over 169 countries. Our people look into our eyes and ask hard questions like, “Where do I find hope, …peace, …freedom, …purpose?”
To address the needs of this constituency, the UPCI Department of Military Chaplaincy is guided by a compelling and ambitious vision and mission.
Our vision is to provide able, ready, and adaptive Apostolic Chaplains who excel in comprehensive ministry that empowers the Department of Defense (DoD) Family for life and service. Our Mission is to recruit, train, and retain faithful Apostolic Chaplains capable of providing comprehensive ministry to empower the Department of Defense Family for life and service.
To accomplish this vision and mission, we are guided by the following four lines of effort:
First is Recruit, which is about promoting the UPCI Military Chaplaincy, providing a diverse, highly qualified chaplaincy, managing our chaplaincy lifecycle process, and advising our stakeholders on the ministry of the UPCI Military Chaplaincy.
Second is Engage, which is about caring for, connecting, encouraging, and building-up the UPCI Chaplaincy Family, and then being a good neighbor to our local UPCI Districts and Churches.
Third is Equip, which is about sustaining and enhancing our chaplains’ ministry competencies and equipping our chaplains and their families for life and service.
And fourth is Empower, which is about cultivating and growing Apostolic ministries on military bases and posturing our UPCI Military Chaplains for broad based ministry.
Our goal is to provide the DoD ready and resilient apostolic chaplain families whom God can use to empower the DoD family for life and service. Where does your heart yearn to minister?
